Driscoll Praises New Speed Signs in Milton

June 9, 2017

MILTON, JUN 9 - Representative Driscoll today praised the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (Mass DCR) for their action to erect four new lighted radar speed signs along Truman Parkway, near Brush Hill road. The installation of enhanced signage along this stretch of road comes in the wake of numerous vehicle and pedestrian incidents, including multiple fatalities in the last year alone.

“I want to thank the DCR for taking this step to improve safety and especially thank the neighbors and community members that raised the issue with myself and other elected leaders,” said Representative Driscoll.

Research from traffic experts has demonstrated that lighted radar signage such as these do slow down drivers on roads.

“The DCR has been responsive on this issue and I look forward to continued collaboration with Senator Timilty, Representative Scaccia and Representative Cullinane as other possible traffic calming and safety measures are explored.  Senator Timilty, Representative Scaccia and Representative Cullinane all have districts and constituents that utilize this important roadway daily.”

In addition to steps being taken at present, Representative Driscoll also filed a bill earlier this year, which seeks to establish a task force to evaluate the safety of the intersection located at Brush Hill road and Truman Parkway in the town of Milton.  “Road safety at this intersection has been a cause for concern for a long time now and if enacted this legislation would make sure all options are considered during the creation of a formal safety improvement plan for the intersection,” the Representative stated. The Bill, H3638 is currently before the Joint Committee on Transportation on Beacon Hill.
