Driscoll Named Vice-Chair of Election Laws Committee


BOSTON, FEB. 15 - State Rep. William Driscoll Jr., D-Milton, will begin his second term in office serving as the Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Election Laws. During a caucus with the Speaker and fellow legislators of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Driscoll was also named as a member to three additional committees.

“I am humbled and honored to be appointed by Speaker DeLeo to this leadership role regarding Election Laws in our Commonwealth,” Driscoll said following the announcement. “ I am looking forward to serving in this new position during a time when a number of reforms and other consequential proposals will come before the committee.

Proposed legislation addressing same day voter registration, voting age, and ranked choice ballots, among other issues, will all have hearings during this legislative session.

On the Election Laws committee, Driscoll will be serving alongside the new House Chair, State Rep. John Lawn Jr. of Watertown, as well as the Senate Chair, Barry R. Finegold of Andover.

Rep. Driscoll, who was first elected in 2016, represents Milton and Randolph on Beacon Hill. He will also serve on committees for Health Care Financing, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure as well as Post Audit and Oversight.
