Visit and Update RE: Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children

Driscoll Joins Delegation & Administration at Site Tour

FEBRUARY 4, 2025

Last Friday, January 31st, Senator Driscoll (D-Milton), joined members of the federal, state and local elected delegation, as well as representatives from the Healey administration for a site visit and meeting at the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC). Thanks to the leadership of Congressman Stephen Lynch, who organized the visit -- Driscoll, Senator Feeney, and Representatives Rogers and Galvin engaged with hospital leadership, students, and staff; as well as representatives from the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), and the Commissioner from the Department of Public Health (DPH).

While on site, all attendees were able to visit active classrooms, and see both open and closed portions of the campus. The tour was a several hours-long event, providing opportunity for comprehensive discussion on what keeping Pappas open would mean in both the short and long-term.

"The conversations today were frank and open. These will be sure to continue, Driscoll remarked after the tour. "Congressman Lynch has spoken with the Governor and I'm heartened to hear that the Administration is taking another look at their original proposal for Pappas."

During a press conference held immediately following the tour, Senator Driscoll stated that, "I have constituents that work here and families with kids here now on site or thriving in the community because they graduated and benefited from this local and special place in the past. I hope the path forward includes continuing services here at Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children, while providing everyone with a deeper understanding of what's possible and needed for the future."
