Last week, Senator Bill Driscoll Jr. (D-Milton) joined over 70 elected officials in signing onto a letter that calls on the Federal administration to extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti.
Currently, this TPS designation is set to expire on Tuesday, February 3rd.
Over the years the Senator has continued to rally and has sent numerous joint letters with State and Federal colleagues. Driscoll spoke at one rally in particular, held by the MIRA Coalition in 2024, which can be viewed, here. These efforts have always successfully extended TPS – until now.
Ending this TPS designation is one of the many dangerous and targeted actions currently being employed by this Federal administration. This letter showcases a commitment by the Massachusetts Legislature to protect all Commonwealth residents, and although more action is needed, the Senator will continue to stand with colleagues to do what is right.
