During National Donate Life Month in April, we honor the people who have given the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation. We also celebrate the lives that have been saved and healed because of a donor’s generosity.
State and town officials recently gathered in Braintree Bernie & Phyl’s to raise awareness and encourage organ and tissue donations.
The furniture store hosted this event because Bernie & Phyl's Furniture CEO, Larry Rubin and President Rob Rubin are connected to organ donation. Rob received a kidney and liver transplant and Larry is waiting to receive a kidney transplant.
It was an honor that NEDS (New England Donor Services ) volunteer Susan Flint of Braintree was on hand during the event. Her son, Lucas, saved the lives of five people as an organ donor.
Thank you to Alexandra Glazier, Esq., President & CEO, New England Donor Services for all that your organization, staff, and volunteers do to give those in need a second chance at life.
Thank you, also, to Colleen Ogilvie, Registrar of Motor Vehicles, for partnering with New England Donor Services and making it quick and easy to register as a donor.
Thank you Mayor Erin Joyce, Town of Braintree, for representing the town as a host.
Marking this occasion, the Braintree legislative delegation were on hand. Moreover, State Senator Driscoll and State Senator John Keenan filed a joint Senate Citation presented at this event.
Your decision to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor gives hope to the 100,000 people on the national organ transplant waiting list who are waiting for a second chance at life. Please consider registering at RegisterMe.org.
