Included in the recently Senate-passed An Act to build resilient infrastructure to generate higher-ed transformation was an amendment filed by Senator Bill Driscoll Jr. (D-Milton). Allocating $20 million to Bridgewater State University, a higher education institution in the Senator’s district, the funding is meant for renovations to Tillinghast Hall. This funding compliments the millions also secured by Representative Dennis C. Gallagher (D-Bridgewater) in the House.
Over 100 years old, Tillinghast Hall, also known as “Tilly” and named after the first principal of Bridgewater Normal School, houses faculty offices, department offices, the Flynn Dining Commons, and the campus post office.
This funding for longtime and much needed updates to Tillinghast Hall would be hugely beneficial to Bridgewater’s campus, and will further positively impact many student’s day-to-day life.
