MILTON – June 4, 2026 – Senator William J. Driscoll, Jr. (D-Milton), Representative Brandy Fluker-Reid (D-Boston), and Representative Richard G. Wells, Jr. (D-Milton) are pleased to announce the inclusion of $250,000 for the construction of a new playground and play space at Tucker Elementary School in Milton, in the 2026 Fair Share conference report.
The current playground is over 20 years old, not completely ADA compliant, and does not meet all safety standards. Current plans for construction intend to create a safe and accessible outdoor space that inspires creative and active play, while providing space for outdoor and environmental education that promotes public health and connectedness.

“This is a valuable community investment that I know will not only be appreciated by thousands of Tucker students over the years, but by the many families in nearby neighborhoods,” said Senator Driscoll. “The safety of our children is paramount, and balanced with opportunity for creativity and enjoyment, this space will undoubtedly be a frequented and beloved community asset.”
“Every child deserves a safe and welcoming place to play, explore, and build connections with their peers,” said Representative Fluker-Reid. “This investment in Tucker Elementary School will create an inclusive space that supports learning, promotes well-being, and strengthens community for years to come. I'm proud to partner with Senator Driscoll and Representative Wells to deliver funding that will make a lasting difference for Milton students and families.”
“I am very proud to support this critical project for the Tucker School and the Town of Milton. Every child deserves a safe, accessible, and engaging place to learn and play,”said Representative Wells. “I am grateful to House and Senate leadership for including this funding in the most recent Fair Share conference report, and to my colleagues, Senator Driscoll and Rep. Fluker-Reid for their incredible work in this effort. My thanks to the many parents, educators, and residents from across town whose advocacy helped make this investment possible. This project will benefit current and future generations of Tucker students and families for years to come.”
“The Tucker Elementary School PTO is extremely grateful to Senator Driscoll, and Rep. Richard Wells and Rep. Brandy Fluker-Reid, for securing this funding to renovate and rebuild the Tucker School playground. Tucker is Milton's only TItle I school and its playground serves as a vital community resource and gathering place for all of the surrounding neighborhoods. The existing playground at Tucker Elementary School is more than 20 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It includes outdated and non-ADA-compliant equipment, deteriorated asphalt play surfaces, and insufficient safety infrastructure,” said Marieke Goldman and Haley Byron, Co-Presidents of the Tucker Elementary PTO. “This project will create an inclusive, accessible, and community-centered outdoor space that will serve students, families, neighbors, and residents of Milton for years to come. Because of Rep. Wells, Rep. Fluker-Reid and Senator Driscoll's advocacy and leadership on this project, we are one big step closer to breaking ground in summer 2027!”

The 2026 Fair Share Budget now goes to the Governor for her signature.
