Senator Driscoll has consistently called attention to the need to develop and implement safety improvements to the Route 28 corridor, a state highway, along Randolph Avenue in Milton as both State Representative and now State Senator. Following the most recent fatal crash, Driscoll issued a statement outlining the notorious dangers along this Route 28 corridor between Reedsdale Road and Chickatawbut Road, and what changes are needed.
In August, MassDOT briefed state and local elected officials on the options being considered for a pilot. MassDOT recently announced that Variable Message Boards will be installed on Route 28 to make drivers aware of the milling and temporary stripping that will begin the week of September 15th. This initiates the Road Diet Pilot implementation, or the project that will decrease the width or number of vehicle lanes along this section of Route 28. The Road Diet Pilot is set to go into effect sometime in late September or early October according to MassDOT
